Peanut Friendly

Shining Stars Family Daycare is a peanut-friendly place.  You are therefore welcome to send peanut butter sandwiches and any other snack containing peanuts, to Daycare.

Snacks & Lunches

Parents must provide healthy snacks and lunches for their children each and every day.  Children will have 2 designated snack breaks and 1 lunch break each day.  Children are never forced to eat or finish their snacks and are always welcome to eat outside of designated snack and lunch times.  If you have a preference as to what your child eats first, please send a note each day accordingly.

If a child eats all of his or her food and complains of still being hungry, the Daycare will contact the child’s parent and offer an additional healthy snack.  In the event that a parent drops off a child at Daycare but forgets the child’s snack and/or lunch, the Daycare will provide the child healthy snacks and lunch that day but the parent will be charged a Food Fee of $5 which will be added to your monthly invoice.

Beverages

Parents must provide a spill proof cup of water with their children every day.  Water will be replenished by the Daycare for children throughout the day.  If you wish your child to drink something in addition to water (i.e. juice or milk), please provide it along with the child’s meals.

Breakfast

All children need a nourishing breakfast to start their day. If your child has not had time to eat at home, parents may send breakfast to eat at Daycare. Please inform me as soon as you arrive that your child has not had breakfast so that I can assure that they are fed right away.

Birthdays & Special Occassions

Birthdays can be a special day.  On your child’s birthday you are invited to bring a treat for us to celebrate.  Please discuss with me, if you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday.

On special occasions (i.e.. Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day,) I may provide special treats (cookies, cupcakes, popsicles) to the children. I will always advise you before giving your child any food which you have not provided.

Gum

Gum is not permitted at Daycare.  It is a choking hazard. It also gets into carpet and on to furniture and children have this horrible tendency to “share it”.
